Risk Management and Employee Benefits CORE MEDICAL PLAN COVERAGE

School Board Employees have the choice of two (2) different medical insurance plans – Open Access HMO (OAHMO) or Choice POS.  They may also select coverage for only the employee or for the employee and their family.

Medical Insurance is provided by Aetna. More detailed information on your medical insurance can be found by registering at www.aetna.com or by calling 1-877-402-8742. The links below can also help you find additional detailed information.

  • Mail Order Pharmacy – Aetna RX or Call 1-866-612-3862 or Printable Member Brochure
IMPORTANT - With the change from CIGNA to Aetna, some prescriptions may have a different co-payment as each carrier determines where a drug is placed on the drug list/formulary. Copays for some prescriptions may go up and some may go down. Please refer to the drug list on the Aetna web site at www.aetna.com/formulary for a complete listing of medications.

  • AetnaNavigator – This is your personalized website for Aetna.  It takes only a minute to register and there you can access information on your coverage, review your claims, get forms, request ID cards, find physicians and more.  You also have 24 hour online access to other services provided by Aetna including the online health risk assessment, information on health related topics and the healthy discount programs.

  • Quest Diagnostics Lab Appointment Line – 1-866-286-7100 – Option #2 or book online at www.questdiagnostics.com/appointment.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING NEW PROCEDURES AT LABS
It has been brought to the District’s attention that there has been a change in the billing process at Quest Diagnostics regarding blood/lab work that may affect employees who use these facilities.  Some labs are now requesting a $35 “credit card preauthorization”  but not actually charging the card at the time of service.  Credit cards will only be charged if the employee owes money after the claim is processed.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EMPLOYEES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THEIR CREDIT CARDS.  It is optional and if the employee does not wish to provide their credit card, they will NOT be turned away.

We have investigated this and were advised that this is a business decision made by Quest at a Corporate level, not local level and therefore, the District nor any insurance carrier can prohibit this practice.
