Risk Management and Employee Benefits New Hire Enrollment

Benefits enrollment is conducted by contacting the Employee Benefits Department to set up a New Hire Benefits Orientation. All necessary plan and online enrollment information is provided during this orientation. Enrollment must be completed within 45 days of date of employment or date placed in an eligible position. In addition to the online enrollment, there are some forms that need to be completed and returned to the Employee Benefits Department as well.

Full time employees who do not enroll online within 45 days will be enrolled with the following default benefits for the employee only:

  • OAPIN Medical Insurance* - CIGNA Healthcare
  • Low PPO Dental – CIGNA Dental
  • Vision Insurance – Davis Vision
  • Life Insurance**
  • Benefit dollars placed in a medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

Once this default enrollment occurs, you will not be permitted to make any changes until the next annual enrollment period unless you experience a qualifying status change (see your Employee Benefits Handbook for details).
* To waive any insurance policy, you must complete online enrollment.
**Failure to elect core life insurance or additional term life insurance when first eligible will be considered a late enrollment and subject to evidence of insurability and approval by the insurance carrier. (See Benefit Changes During the Year).
